Technology Recycling Initiative of Ketchikan (TRI-K)

Ketchikan Charter School

The purpose of TRI-K is to recycle computers and other technology equipment that is no longer being used to Ketchikan schools and families of Ketchikan students who are in need of the computers and/or equipment in order to best provide for the academic achievement of all students in Ketchikan.

Tax-deductible receipts will be given to personal and business donors.  The worth of the item is left to the discretion of the donor and will not be written on the receipt.  All equipment donated must be fully functional or have prior approval before being donated.  Some broken equipment may be accepted for parts or to be repaired.  Broken or defective equipment donated without prior approval will either be returned to the owner or disposed of at the owner’s expense.  Donated items may not be left at KCS without first talking with the KCS office or technology staff.

Current Minimum Requirements (Subject to Change):

  • Computer monitors must use the standard VGA adapter, unless prior approval is granted.
  • Computers must have the minimum of a Pentium III (PC) or G3 (Mac) processor, unless prior approval is granted.
  • Other acceptable donations include digital cameras and camcorders, compatible software, pre-approved hardware, pre-approved external drives, USB flash drives, blank burnable CDs and DVDs, MP3 players, washable headphones, keyboards, mice, pre-approved computer desks, pre-approved cords, wired and wireless A, B, G, and N routers, A, B, G and N wireless cards, blank standard printing or copy paper, USB scanners, digital projectors, USB web cams, speakers, and other pre-approved items.
  • In general, NO PRINTERS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Some USB and network printers may be accepted.
  • All confidential files and files of a personal nature must be removed from equipment before donating.
