Home Writing Homework Newsletter Tutoring Program Snack Schedule
Dear First Grade Parents:
I have many opportunities for earning volunteer hours. Following are some things that you can do for us:
- Science or History projects – look in the weekly newsletter. These activities are usually scheduled in advance for Wednesday or Thursday afternoons – sometimes on Friday. I can use several parents each time we have a messy project – and we have projects almost every week! Examples of our messy projects include:
- Making Candy Rocks
- 100th Day of School
- Halloween Skeletons
- Western Wagons
- Clay World Maps.
- Recess – an extra adult on the playground is always great to have, and you can follow up by eating lunch with your child. Our recess time is 11:10 AM each morning.
- Art Helper – Miss Halli always appreciates an extra pair of helping hands during art class. First grade art class is on Tuesday and Friday, 1:30 – 2:15 PM.
- Book Orders – Assembling and stapling packets of monthly book orders. This is a take-home project.
- Bring in special supplies as requested. Earn 1 hour per family, per request. You can receive up to 5 volunteer hours per family, per year for bringing in special supplies.
- Passing back graded papers into mailboxes – This can be done any day, any time that I am here. This is very hard for me to keep up with, as there are approximately 300 pages of work that I grade each week!
- School events: I always appreciate extra help each year for…
- Picture Day (September)
- Halloween/Pajama Day (October),
- Christmas Program (December),
- 100th Day of School (February)
- Dr. Seuss Day (February)
- Core Knowledge Fair (May)
- Beach Day and Field Day (June)
- End of year clean-up (June)
