Great Job on Core Knowledge Projects this year!
The annual Core Knowledge fair was last week, and I was amazed at the first grade projects. Every student had something turned in, and the creativity was outstanding.
After School Tutoring Program is Done
…For this year. We had a great year, and I hope to continue this program next fall.
For the remainder of this year, all students will be dismissed at 2:30 PM.
Miss Becky Gets a Preview of Your Kids…
All of the teachers at KCS had a good time Monday morning, switching classes. From 8 – 11 AM, all teachers taught in another classroom. I was in the 4th grade room, teaching Miss Matz’s class.
Miss Becky taught the first grade for a few hours. It was a great way for her to get to know next year’s second graders a bit better.

Last Snack Schedule
The last snack schedule of the year is printed on the back of this newsletter, and has been posted online.
This Week we are Learning…
In math, we have completed our regular Saxon math curriculum. There will be no more GRADED math this year. During our math time this week, we will be working on counting money, and reviewing calendar concepts.
We are doing new things in spelliing. Our words this week are all homophones: new, knew, fair, fare, tow, toe, red, read, pane, pain. Homework looks different, as students will be writing 6 sentences each night to learn which word means what.
We will also continue to have a Weekly Reading Log, and a Weekly Phonogram Test on Fridays.
In history we are studying modern Mexico.
Still to be covered this year in Core Knowledge: Electricity, Ocean Habitats and Measurement. We will be using some of our reading block time and our math time to get these fun units in by the end of the year.
We need:
Bottled water – just 2 cases will get us through to the end of the year. Please bring some if you can.
We could also use just a few: Kleenex, wipes and glue sticks.
