3rd grade students will always have math worksheet(s) for homework except on Fridays or sometimes on test days (after every 5 lessons). Homework lessons in Saxon Math are a mixture of what we have been learning; these topics can be found on the "lesson plans" page.
Spelling lists have begun, and students will be tested on Fridays. Please study these words during the week. Spelling lists can be found on the "Spelling List" link above. I will also send home spelling homework 2 times per week. It would also help students to be tested once or twice a week at home.
3rd Graders should also read at least 20 minutes per night. I will assign quarterly book reports, due the week before the end of each quarter (10/26, 1/11, 3/14, 3/23). Each student has a reading log where he/she can put a check next to whatever type of book he/ she is reading. I will ask for a written portion between book reports sometimes. Some reading can be done in the 3rd Grader or history book; credit from these books can be gained on reading logs.
Other homework should be written in student planners, and often these assignments depend on what we complete/do not complete in class.
Also, if students do not complete classwork or need to correct work, they may bring some extra home.
There will not be homework on Fridays unless students do not get classwork or that week's homework assignments finished. They should continue to read whenever possible, but reading on weekends can be a book of choice and will not be assigned from the classroom.
Please excuse me for being general on this page. I check planners every night to be sure that students have written everything from the board. The planners are the best place to check for homework, and if you have questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 247-7103.
