Ketchikan Project
Ketchikan: From 1883 to Today
What was Ketchikan then and how does that affect us today?
This is an in-depth project that guides students to website links to fill in information on a PowerPoint focusing on data (location, climate, population, transportation, facilities, and economy), history (people, dwellings, tools, families, clothing, transportations, potlatches, and development), and modern Ketchikan (totem poles, art, culture, outdoors, tourism, sightseeing, mammals, birds, fish, shellfish, bugs, insects, plants, trees, and current issues). This unit covers a variety of Alaska content standards. The unit requires several technological tools (listed in the teacher's guide).
