DEAR TEAM,
Congratulations, you have been "hired" as a researcher for the KCS Circulatory System Research Lab! As a researcher for the lab, your goal is to learn as much as possible about the structure of the circulatory system, what can been done to keep it healthy, and why it is important to keep it healthy. Keep in mind that your work might be shared with your classmates or on the KCS website, so do your best and good luck with your three quests!
Quest 1: Determine Your Designated Positions
Each member of your research team has a job!
- Recorder – the person on the left will be in charge of taking down notes, typing, saving documents, etc.
- Researcher – the person on the right will be in charge of researching information, clicking on website links, etc.
- Assistant – if your group has a person in the middle then this person will assist both the recorder and the researcher.
If all team members agree, rolls may be traded. The teacher may also announce or request a roll change.
Quest 2: Knowledge is Power!
Click here to download and complete the knowledge report. Save this to the documents folder on the recorder’s laptop.
Quest 3: Project
As a Ketchikan Charter School’s Endangered Animals Awareness Club research team, you must complete 3 of the following projects, making sure to use your own words when writing, and making sure to cite all sources. When completed, projects must be turned into my drop box.
- Use the resources below to draw a picture of the circulatory system on a piece of paper. Label at least 10 important veins, arteries, or other components.
- Use Microsoft Word to create a flyer about what you can do to keep your circulatory system healthy.
- Draw a picture of a heart using TuxPaint. Use arrows to show the path of blood and oxygen.
- Use GarageBand to record a 30-60 second radio commercial for Ketchikan residents about what might happen if they don't keep their circulatory system healthy, and at least three tips for keeping it healthy.
- Use Microsoft Word to type three paragraphs about why you think some people choose not to keep their circulatory system healthy.
- Propose your own project – if your team has a great idea just let me know and I will probably let you do it!
