DEAR TEAM,
Congratulations, your team has been selected as KCS Historians, specializing in the Civil War. Keep in mind that your work might be shared with your classmates or on the KCS website, so do your best and good luck with your assigned quests!
Quest 1: Knowledge is Power!
1. Go to http://www.brainpop.com/socialstudies/ushistory/civilwar/ and watch the video with your partner.
2. Take the graded quiz together, print your results to the foyer printer, and hand them to Mrs. Copper.
Quest 2: Key Figures
1. Print the Key Figures worksheet if it isn't provided for you.
2. Use the information at http://www.history.com/minisites/civilwar (click on "Key Figures" on the left) to fill in at LEAST three complete sentences about why each figure was and important figure to the Civil War. You can write on the back of the worksheet if you run out of room.
Quest 3: Underground Railroad
1. Take a piece of paper and fold it in half one way, unfold it, fold it in half the other way, and unfold it. Title your paper at the top with "Underground Railroad" and your name, label the top-left box "People I Met", label the top left-hand box "Places I Traveled", and label the bottom half of your paper "Interesting Facts I Learned".
2. Go to http://www.nationalgeographic.com/railroad/j1.html and fill in these boxes and you travel along the route to freedom!
3. If you get done early, visit some of the other links from the "The Journey" pull-down menu.
Quest 4: Civil War Movie - Storytelling with Pictures
1. Go to http://www.pbs.org/civilwar/cwimages/tellingStory/flash.html and watch the sample movie.
2. Click on "Make Your Movie".
3. Go through the steps to create your movie.
4. Email your movie to Mrs. Copper at coppera@kgbsd.org (put kcsstudent@kgbsd.org for your email address).
5. If you get done early, visit the "Telling Details" link near the top on the right-hand side.
Quest 5: Important Documents of the Civil War
1. Print the Important Documents worksheet if it isn't provided for you.
